Continuing Legal Education Programme
Further to the Capital Market Solicitors’ Association (“CMSA“) vision to promote a knowledgeable, dynamic, and strong professional body, the CMSA has organized a Continuing Legal Education Training Programme (the “Programme“) for capital market solicitors/operators that is scheduled to hold on 20 and 21 September 2022 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
The purpose of the Programme is to equip Nigerian capital market solicitors and practitioners even more with the ability to competently advise on both domestic and cross-border transactions and also contribute towards the development of legal capacity in the Nigerian capital markets, while meeting the demands of an evolving business environment.
The curriculum will cover an Introduction to the Nigerian Capital Market; Debt & Equity Capital Market Instruments (Commercial Papers, Bonds, Convertible Loans, Equity Linked Funding, Share Buy Back and Sukuk); Collective Investment Schemes; Fundamentals of Clearing; and Derivatives Market. The facilitators of the Programme are: Emomotimi Agama (Securities and Exchange Commission), Amaka Nsofor (Standard Chartered Bank Ltd), Franca Egwuekwe (NG Clearing Ltd), Jennifer Martins- Okundia (Rand Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited), Taiwo Olatunji (Coronation Merchant Bank Ltd) and Adetola Odusote (Berkshire Finance Company Limited).
During the Programme, participants will have the opportunity to engage with facilitators and other personnel from key market participants, such as capital market operators (CMOs), securities exchanges, clearing entities, central securities depositories, and even the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
